Pax Autocratica Colony Layout and Logistics Guide

Plan a readable Pax Autocratica colony around production flow, transport, Warehouse access, food service, pathing checks, and room for build changes.

There is no single best layout supported by official evidence; build around visible production flow—resources, transport, Warehouse, processing, and consumers—then test spacing and paths in your current terrain and build.

Start from official building relationships

The official material defines what the colony must accomplish: mining and gathering, hauling, research, manufacturing weapons, armor, food, and supplies, plus personnel management. It also connects the Resource Transport Station to resource buildings and, after an upgrade, to the Warehouse.

Those relationships support a flow diagram, not a fixed blueprint:

resource origin → hauling → Warehouse or processor → finished output → service or expedition preparation

Design so that you can inspect each link. A layout is useful when it makes an interrupted chain understandable. The official sources do not state a best grid, mandatory district shape, fixed spacing, or permanent ratio of buildings.

Group the colony by flow, not decoration

A practical player-tested approach is to organize areas by the movement of material:

  • raw-resource buildings and their pickup routes;
  • transport and Warehouse connections;
  • processors that consume stored or delivered inputs;
  • food and living services used by the population; and
  • preparation space for research, manufacturing, and expeditions.

This is a diagnostic pattern, not an official zoning rule. It helps because a stalled chain can be followed in one direction. A beautiful district that hides output or forces repeated pathing checks may be harder to manage than a simpler arrangement.

Keep the Resource Transport Station conceptually between resource output and storage. Keep the Kitchen-to-Food Hall chain readable as its own flow. The two systems share workers and paths, but they have different failure points.

Leave room for access, upgrades, and revision

The official update history shows that construction tools continue to evolve, including height adjustment, continuous placement, snapping changes, and foundation options. That is evidence that a rigid early blueprint may age badly as the build changes.

Leave visible access around important buildings and avoid treating every empty space as wasted. The supplied research supports preserving room for passage and upgrades, but it does not provide a universal gap or measurement. Terrain and current pathing behavior must decide the final spacing.

If a building edge, foundation height, or decoration seems to cause repeated movement, test the route before rebuilding the whole colony. Community reports identify height differences and pathing as potential layout friction, but those reports are observations from specific builds rather than an official guarantee about every map.

Test one transport chain at a time

When a colony feels slow, avoid moving several buildings and jobs together. Pick one item and observe its full route: source output, pickup, travel, destination, processing, and final access. Change one relationship, then observe again.

This method cannot prove a global optimum, but it can answer a local question: did the change improve this chain without breaking another? Watch for output waiting at a source, workers diverted to other duties, inaccessible storage, or repeated pathing around terrain.

Use the automatic restocking guide when a production mode may be the issue. Stock and Auto can control production intent, but neither provides hauling or corrects a blocked route.

Expand only after the current flow is legible

Population and expeditions change the workforce. A layout that works while every hauler is present can appear broken after those soldiers leave with the Leader. Before expanding, confirm that important inputs and outputs still move with the intended expedition staffing.

Food is a useful pressure test because it crosses gathering, Kitchen production, transport, the Food Hall, and actual consumption. Do not add a fixed building ratio from this guide; the research supplies no validated formula. Instead, verify that stock remains usable and hunger responds as expected in the current colony.

Audit the layout after Early Access updates

Revisit routes when official patches change building tools, transport descriptions, recipes, or staffing behavior. Preserve the functional relationships, but be willing to revise spacing and districts. The claim that one screenshot is the permanent best base is not supported.
